A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987)

Not one, but two black characters survive (three if you consider a random nurse with one line), including a young Laurence Fishburne (who receives a much bigger billing on the DVD re-release than his role justifies) as an orderly in the psycho ward that Freddy has decided to haunt. Ken Sagoes is belligerent patient Roland, whose threatening nature is undermined by the fact that he resembles Fred "Rerun" Berry. He lives long enough to be offed in the sequel.
